Researchers from university of the State of Oregon managed to describe a gene which supervises formation of the tooth enamel protecting a tooth. This opening can move scientists to working out of essentially new methods of preventive maintenance and caries treatment.
Besides, opening will allow to develop such party of stomatology as «cultivation of a teeth in laboratory», informs magazine The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The new gene named scientists Ctip2, is responsible for formation of fibers which supervise carrying over of the information from DNA molecule. Also it carries out a number of special functions, for example, takes part in regulation of the immune answer of a human body, development of nervous system.
The head of research of Kriss Kiussi has told that during experiments on animals scientists also have found out that this gene supervises formation and maturing ameloblasts - the cages producing tooth enamel. Earlier it was possible to grow up only internal elements of a tooth. The new data allows to create the teeth covered with enamel. Opening gives new possibilities for strengthening and restoration of the damaged tooth enamel, and also for preventive maintenance and caries treatment, scientists consider.
